We Built A Family Together

Order Yours Today!

Did you know that Assumption is the oldest Catholic church in Morristown? That the first Mass was celebrated here on Christmas Day, 1848? That our parish was the "mother church" to All Souls Hospital (now Morristown Medical Center's Atlantic Rehabilitation Institute), Bayley-Ellard High School, and several parishes throughout Morris County?

We Built a Family Together: The History of the Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary by parishioners Robert and Jeanette Fredericks, with photographs by Sergio Burani, will be published in November. This handsome hardcover book is lavishly illustrated and covers our parish's 19th-century origins through the significant events of the past 60 years. Chapters are dedicated to parish schools, Holy Rood cemetery, our impressive collection of artworks, parishioners' reminiscences, and more.

We Built a Family Together belongs on every Assumption family bookshelf, and it makes a great gift for current or former parishioners or Assumption and Bayley-Ellard alumni. You can get a copy for a minimum $16 donation to Assumption prior to December 31; after that date, the requested donation will be $25. The book will be available after weekend Masses beginning November 19-20. A reception and book-signing by Robert and Jeanette will be held in the community room after the 5:30 p.m. Mass on November 19.

Pre-order a copy today by following the Donate link on the home page or by downloading this order form and sending a check to Assumption Church, attn: book order, 91 Maple Ave. Morristown, N.J. 07960.

Memorial Mass for Fr. Jean-Claude St. Martin

Eternal Rest Grant Unto Him, O Lord

Father Jean-Claude St. Martin

As Saint Augustine prayed, “I have tasted you.
Now I hunger and thirst for more”.
Lord, in my relationship with you, I have experienced that same taste. I beseech you to bless all those who have helped me to know you and to remain steadfast in faith throughout my life and to my vocation. Help me, through this ministry that you have entrusted to me, to celebrate being a Priest by becoming the hands of Christ to those
I am being called to serve.

Help me to show your mercy and kindness to your people, so that, nourished by your Word and fed by your Body and Blood your people may be transformed into
living witnesses to your eternal love.

Rev. Fr. Jean-Claude St. Martin
May 24, 2008

This prayer, composed by Fr. Jean-Claude, was printed on a prayer card in honor of his ordination to the priesthood.

Please join us as we thank God for the life and ministry of Fr. Jean-Claude at a Memorial Mass to be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. here at Assumption Church.
Light refreshments to follow.
